Universal Biosensors Inc (UBI) is a global biosensor company and a world leader in electrochemical cell technology. Universal Biosensors developed PETRACKR® and is a USA Delaware company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX:UBI) and operates from its head office, manufacturing facility, and research laboratory in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Universal Biosensors began its journey in the early 2000s, focusing on the research, development, and manufacture of biosensor test strips used in our hand-held analyzers for the diagnostic point-of-care (POC) market. Universal Biosensors first developed a market-leading human blood glucose monitoring product for LifeScan, Inc. (a Johnson & Johnson company) which was launched in 2010. This product has sold more than 10 billion tests globally, with hundreds of millions of these tests initially being produced by Universal Biosensors’ in-house production facility. In 2018, Universal Biosensors ended its association with this market-leading glucometer for humans, and pivoted this patented technology into a veterinary glucometer that is specifically calibrated for cats and dogs, called PETRACKR®.
Human glucometers shouldn’t be used for cats and dogs due to species-specific differences.
PETRACKR® is specifically designed for cats and dogs, ensuring accurate results and the best diabetic care for cats and dogs.
With PETRACKR®, you can easily switch between cats and dogs without the need for coding or control tests.
Our PETRACKR® app and the analyzer range indicator simplifies result interpretation, making it a convenient choice for pet owners and veterinarians alike.
Our core technology consists of a disposable, multi-layer test strip, which incorporates a proprietary electrochemical sensing system using opposing electrodes that rapidly and accurately detects specific analytes in samples as small as a droplet (8μL). This innovative technology was developed in our high-end research and development laboratory.
A recent technology breakthrough has enhanced our detection limits by 1 billion times. Our technology offers affordable portability, speed, ease of use and reliability, with comparable precision and accuracy.
In 2011, Universal Biosensors began developing the Xprecia Stride™ blood coagulation analyzer in collaboration with Siemens Healthineers. Launched in 2015, Xprecia Stride™ was sold in 36 countries and currently has an install base exceeding 3,500 analyzers, servicing thousands of hospitals around the world. In 2022, Universal Biosensors launched Xprecia Prime™ in the EU and UK, the next-generation blood coagulation analyzer which replaces Xprecia Stride™. Xprecia Prime™ was launched in the US in 2024.
In 2021, Universal Biosensors successfully launched its unique handheld wine analyzer called Sentia™ with an initial test to measure free SO2. Subsequently, Universal Biosensors developed and launched tests for monitoring malic acid, glucose, fructose, titratable acidity, and acetic acid throughout the wine production process.
Universal Biosensors launched PETRACKR® in early 2023, a veterinary blood glucometer to monitor blood glucose in diabetic cats and dogs. These products will complement Universal Biosensors’ existing Canadian blood testing laboratory Hemostasis Reference Lab (HRL).
All our analyzers use the same trusted patented biosensor technology but adapted and calibrated for different industries. With over 10 billion tests performed globally using our technology, you can trust that PETRACKR® is the best product available on the market.
